Habitat Animal Protection Association, Tanzania

The Habitat and Animal Protection Association or "HAPA" - which means "here within" in Kiswahili - was founded to promote the protection and sustainable utilization of vital wildlife corridors in Tanzania.

HAPA's mission is to promote the protection and sustainable utilization of vital wildlife habitat in Tanzania by empowering and enriching those peoples residing in critical wildlife corridors in conservation efforts and wildlife habitat management.

Our objectives are met by facilitating the involvement of local communities, living adjacent to national parks and protected areas, in conservation efforts for the protection of threatened species, habitats and migratory wildlife corridors.

By engaging the ideas and commitment of local communities, HAPA can better identify the best feasible solutions to ensure the wildlife corridors' long-term survival. HAPA works in the spirit of partnership and joins with local landholders, government and others in these wildlife corridors to conserve the wildlife and natural processes as well as uphold the integrity of the local community.
